LONESOME started life in 2005 as a trio consisting of Bill Dalton and Pete Woodman.

Now aged 142, Bill was introduced to music somewhat late in life. Inspired by the thought of free whisky he started playing lapstyle guitar 7 years ago for a bet. Although he spends most of his time fighting with his dobro, Bill has recently discovered the subtle musical delights of the humble banjo and ukulele.

Repeated requests to play ''Leaning on a Lamp Post'' and ''Duelling Banjos'' led him to adopt a quiet lifestyle away from the rat race after an unfortunate incident.  However we have recently been assured that it has turned out nice again.

For many years Pete has performed on a variety of instruments and has comprehensively demonstrated his total inability to play in time and in tune on any of them.

Since 1991 he has been involved in various Manx bands too numerous to mention, and has even been allowed to play in public on occasions.

Pete first met Bill at a ferret-wrangling convention, where they discovered a shared interest in beer, music and beer. Defying pigeon-holing in any particular musical style, tempo or key, Pete and Bill played in the legendary ShockGrass band,

Richard III and the U Bends, before forming their supergroup, Lonesome (so named because no-one else would play with them, even for money).

After numerous requests from their widespread fan for someone more attractive to join the band, they finally persuaded David to add his considerable talent to the line-up. If he ever feels like leaving he should remember that the negatives are in a safe place.

David now appears with Lonesome under his stage name ''Dave'', to bring a touch of much-needed musical ability to their public performances.
